Liposuction is commonly referred to as lipoplasty (“fat modeling”), suction lipectomy (“suction-assisted fat removal”) or liposculpture and is a style of body contouring. In other words fat is removed from different parts of the body attempting to achieve a chosen shape. Liposuction has been around since the nineteen sixties however it is only since the nineteen nineties that it has become increasingly popular|so incredibly popular. Prior to this the methods practiced were less successful, with the results often being considerably varied. It was in the 1990’s that ultrasound was introduced into the liposuction technique, which made it easier to extract larger amounts of fat. This was achieved by first liquefying the fat.
It isn’t uniquely women who make appointments with liposuction surgeons but men do too. Two decades ago this rarely ever occurred, but today men are often having the exact same beauty procedures as women. There are places on the body which men specifically wish sculptured, for example, flanks, male breasts and abdomen, women commonly want to reshape such areas of the body as the hips, abdomen and thighs. Whichever part one chooses to have contoured it would be clever to remember that all cosmetic surgery has a few risks. Sadly there are negative aspects to having liposuction, if an extreme amount of fat is extracted, the area can sometimes be bumpy, or appear to have deep contours in the skin.
A very important fact about liposuction, which must not be overlooked, is that it is not a low-effort alternative to diet and exercise. There are a great many contraindications to liposuction and being dangerously overweight is one of them. An aesthetic surgeon will commonly refuse to carry out the procedure upon anyone who is severely or morbidly obese. This is not discriminatory, but nothing more than just a medical decision decided upon using facts. Patients who suffer from obesity are commonly rather unfit and generally not in good health, both of which nullify one’s eligibility for the procedure. There are also risks with anesthesia if folk are overweight. The most suitable candidates for liposuction are those folk who are in very good shape and healthy, and who have not smoked for several months previously.
Liposuction is performed either; under general anesthesia, local anesthesia, or local anesthesia with sedation. at the start of the operation the surgeon will make tiny cuts in the skin at the areas where the offending fat is to be removed. Usually the fat is removed via an aspirator (a hollow tube and a suction device) and a cannula During the surgery, several factors are considered which can have an effect upon the amount of fat which can safely be removed. The safety issues are not only related to the amount of fat extracted, but also to the overall health of the patient being operated upon, and the choice of anesthesia used.
