It always amazes me how some of these companies will tell us that the best abdominal exercises we can do are crunches and sit-ups. One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to do ab workouts in order to see your abs. But when you think about it, this thinking is kind of funny because you can literally do 1000 sit-ups a day. The reason why you will never see the fruits of your labor is because you have too much excess fat covering your stomach muscles. So how does one go about having a flat stomach? To start you should take a look at your eating habits. You have to follow this simple process in order to lose weight, but just because it is simple doesn’t mean it is easy. You have to take accountability for your poor eating habits and make sure that you get a well balance diets of all 5 food groups. To lose your excess body fat you will want a good workout regimen full of cardio. The common misconception is that you must do cardio activities for an hour or so. With this idea most people just happen to hop on a treadmill or elliptical machine, turn on the tube and stare at the TV until there workout is complete. I would like to challenge you to stay away from this and try something a bit different.While elliptical and treadmill machines aren’t a bad way to go, I’m saying that if you truly want to lose weight you should be alternating your exercises at different intensity levels. Just staring at a TV while leisurely doing your work out may not be cutting it.

Your body can become bored with the same old routine very quickly, so you will want to switch up your workouts constantly.

Warm-up for 3-4 minutes at a fast walk or light jog
Interval 1 – run at 8.0 mi/hr for 1 minute
Interval 2 – walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes
Interval 3 – run at 10.0 mi/hr for 1 minute
Interval 4 – walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes
Repeat those 4 intervals 4 times for a very intense 20-minute workout.

· Renegade Dumbbell Rows – Start in the pushup position with each hand on one dumbbell and alternate raising each dumbbell to your chest. Try doing 5 sets of 5 or 3 sets of 8.

· Front Squats – Just like doing a back squat except that you rest the barbell on the front of your shoulders. It may take a bit of practice at first, so I would suggest asking for help until you can do it by yourself. Try doing 5 sets of 5 or 3-4 sets of 8.
